The latest Cyber 5 data reveals a significant shift in consumer behavior during the holiday season, as mobile shopping has officially surpassed desktop sales for Cyber Week. According to Adobe Analytics, 51.8% of online sales were conducted through mobile devices, marking an increase from 49.9% last year and 46% the year before. On Thanksgiving Day alone, a record-breaking 59% of online spending occurred through mobile platforms. This trend reflects the growing comfort of shoppers with mobile purchases, accelerated by the post-pandemic surge in online shopping. Brands are adapting by optimizing their mobile sites, focusing on aspects like load time and navigation. For instance, Kendra Scott’s CEO, Tom Nolan, attributes 80% of online traffic to mobile shoppers, showcasing increased engagement and transactions. The mobile trend extends beyond the holiday season, with year-to-date spending on mobile reaching $409 billion, up from $362 billion last year, indicating a sustained shift in consumer behavior. Advertisers can capitalize on this market trend by reminding local and online retailers to tailor their marketing strategies to be more mobile-friendly so that they can leverage the prevalence of mobile transactions throughout the year.
