Multi-Snacking Reaches Record High

Snacking remains deeply embedded in American eating habits, with 79% of U.S. adults reporting they snack between meals at least once daily, matching 2025 levels but rising four percentage points since 2020. The share of consumers snacking multiple times per day has reached 54%, the highest level recorded since tracking began in 2015, with adults aged 18-29 and women leading this behavior. Snacking between lunch and dinner remains the most common occasion, while evening and late-night snacking have edged down slightly. Salty snacks continue to be the preferred choice, ahead of sweet and healthy snack options. Additionally, nearly six in ten adults replace a traditional meal with snacks at least once per week, driven by factors including appetite, convenience, portion control, health goals, and cost savings. Advertisers can capitalize on this trend by promoting convenient, portable, and value-oriented offerings to consumers in the snack foods, grocery, and convenience stores sectors.
