The 2023 Thriving College Student Survey, conducted by Ipsos, reveals a positive shift in the mental well-being of college students compared to the previous year. Students reported experiencing less stress, anxiety, and feelings of being overwhelmed, while there was an increase in feelings of happiness. Key behaviors for managing stress include listening to music and socializing with friends. Thriving students, characterized by their engagement in healthy behaviors and positive emotions, demonstrate higher levels of socialization and overall well-being compared to maintaining and struggling students. However, there remains a need for improved on-campus support for mental health, with a significant percentage of students uncertain about the resources available to them. Advertisers can capitalize on this market trend by targeting businesses that cater to college students’ mental well-being, such as social event venues and mental health services.
