Exercise is for Everybody

Older, Woman, Female, Elderly, Fitness, Yoga, Mat, Health

Research shows that regular exercise strengthens muscles and improves health, regardless of age. According to recent studies, exercise reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s in older people. Doctors call exercise a drug-free “polypill” that can benefit almost everyone because it prevents and treats several chronic diseases at a low cost. Melissa Hendrix Wogahn, an exercise physiologist at Joy of Active Living who teaches older adults fitness and health, recommends walking, resistance, and mobility training for Adults over 70. These exercises include stretching, water aerobics, walking, and body weight or low-weight strength exercises.

Do you know any fitness centers that are looking for new members? Do they have an indoor track or pool? Can you connect them to older Adults looking to get healthier?
